Workshop Overview:
During this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of social entrepreneurship and how it may be used to create social value to address economic disparities within communities of color. Participants will review evidence-based economic empowerment models and then participate in a planning to create actionable strategic plan with specific, measurable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.

Brief Bio:
Dr. Shetay Ashford-Hanserd

Dr. Shetay Ashford-Hanserd (affectionately known as Dr. Shetay) is a professor, award-winning STEM+C equity scholar, TEDx speaker, nonprofit CEO, and Kingdompreneur with 21+ years of experience in the information technology, education, and nonprofit sectors. Dr. Shetay holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Career and Workforce Education, from the University of South Florida, and an M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Career and Technical Education from Texas State University. She also holds a master’s certificate in Project Management and Program Evaluation. Dr. Shetay is a sought-out expert in the areas of grant-writing, educational equity, STEM workforce development, social entrepreneurship, and community economic empowerment. She is passionate about sharing her story and personal journey to encourage and exhort women and girls to fulfill their purpose. She has a keen ability to garner resources to bridge the STEM equity and wealth gaps in communities of color.
